The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team played their first game of the 2023 season on Tuesday, September 5th. The Lancers hosted Wyandotte in an opening round game of the KAMO Tournament. East went on to defeat the Bulldogs 7-2 to advance to a 4:30pm semi-final matchup on Thursday, September 7th vs. Blue Valley West.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted Blue Valley West in a Semi-Final match up with the Blue Valley West Jaguars in the KAMO Tournament on Thursday, September 7th. The Lancers defeated the Jaguars 3-1 and advanced to the Championship vs. Rockhurst to be played on Saturday, September 9th at 2:30pm. This matchup vs. Rockhurst will be the first since 1998.

Rockhurst – 0
The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted Rockhurst in the Championship match in the KAMO Tournament on Saturday, September 9th. The Lancers held the clean sheet and the game resulted in a 0-0 tie. As per KAMO tournament rules we went straight to penalties and Rockhurst beat SME 4-2 on penalties. This matchup vs. Rockhurst was the first since 1998.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted Shawnee Mission West Tuesday night in a Sunflower League match on Tuesday, September 19th. The Lancers lost 1-2 to the Vikings in a hard fought battle by both teams.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team went to Olathe and knocked out 2 goals in the first half before the storms moved in and cancelled the game, Part 2 rescheduled in the sunshine on 9/29 and we racked up another goal and ended the competition 3-1with a WIN!

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted Lawrence Free State in a Sunflower League match up on Thursday, September 28th. The Lancers and Firebirds battled into a double overtime match and the Firebirds came out with the win. The Lancers lost 1-2.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team traveled to the College Boulevard Activities Center for a Sunflower League game vs. the Olathe West Owls on Tuesday, October 3rd. The Lancers scored 2 goals in the first half and went on to win the game 2-1 over the Owls.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team traveled to Mill Valley High School to play the Jaguars in a Sunflower League match on Thursday, October 5th. This game was a rematch of last year’s Quarter final game that went into a penalty kick shootout. The Lancers prevailed in Thursday’s game over the Jaguars by a score of 2-1.

Big win to for Shawnee Mission East Soccer to close out the regular season as Champions of the Sunflower league! Regionals and State coming up! Captain Wesley Cribb finished up with a hat trick and scoring a bomb from 50 yards out.
The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team claimed the 2023 Sunflower League Championship on Thursday, October 19th. The Lancers finished their 13 game Sunflower League schedule with an overall record of 11-2.
Congratulations to the Boys Soccer team on their 2023 Sunflower League Championship! East moves to 13-3-0 overall and 11-2-0 in conference to finish up the regular season as first place in the sunflower league! Well done lads.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted a KSHSAA Class 6A Regional Championship on Thursday, October 26th. The Lancers played the Mill Valley Jaguars. East went on to defeat Mill Valley 4-1 to win the Regional Championship and advance to the State Quarterfinals.

The Shawnee Mission East Varsity Boys Soccer team hosted a KSHSAA Class 6A State Quarterfinal game vs. the Olathe East Hawks. The game went into a fourth overtime period before there was a goal scored by Olathe East. The Lancers lost 0-1 in an incredible game by both teams.
The Lancers finished their 2023 with an overall records of 15-4-0 and out right champions of the sunflower league. What a great season for these guys however sad to see their state run altered.
