Internet Radio

Oringinal Posting 11.22.2007
I was listening to Kansas City Radio this morning and was extremely annoyed by some DJ cackling on and on about some boring nonsense. I asked myself why I even bother and then dialed my URL into some better tunes.
Internet radio is booming these days. According to Arbitron, Yahoo! Music Launchcast attracts more listeners than the biggest terrestrial stations. There is also a new trend in sites offering user generated play list based on their musical tastes. Pandora.com which launched last year and continues to grow is one of the hottest new radio sites. You should also tune in to a new site launched recently called Slacker.com from the masterminds of the Musicmatch product who are helping to create awesome music online for free after selling out to Yahoo last year. A few other sites that continue to grow in popularity are last.fm which requires an install and musicstrands.com which uses tags for preferences. Yahoo is blowing away rival Google when comes to investing in the music. Last year they bought both musicmatch and webjay.org (25million.) Who cares if Google just had its ninth birthday – they need to grow up and get on board with Internet radio.
A couple of my long time favorites have been grooveradio.com, when I am in the mood for some technogrooves and nugs.net, when I want to dial it back a notch. Be a slacker, dial in some music and get rocking.
